Stavelot is in the Southeast Walloon part of Belgium, and celebrates a famous festival during the middle of Lent. People dress up in costumes like in earlier Carnivale or Fasching festivals. The characteristic costumes here are the blancs-moussis, a white face and hood with a bright red nose, and many will carry dried inflated pigs bladders which they will hit passers-by with.
