While the Isle of Man is not a country of its own, it is also not part of the United Kingdom or Great Britain. It is a British dependency and uses the British Queen as its figurehead. My visit there was very short, about a half-hour on a rainy day in Douglas when the ship I was working on (The Silver Cloud) stopped there as one of its ports back in 2001.
