The MV Explorer hosts the Semester at Sea program, where college students attend an academic semester at sea and visit various ports around the world (See the Semester at Sea Spring 2012
page). Between semesters, the ship does Enrichment Voyages which are open to people of all ages and backgrounds; not just students. These are typically anywhere from 2-8 weeks in length and stop for one to two days in each port. I worked on the first two of three segments of the Spring 2013 Enrichment Voyage, and these are a sampling of images from the ports that I visited (keep in mind that I was working or on call for half of the port days, so my travels were somewhat limited). Many different excursions or tours are offered and passengers may also do their own independent travel, so each person's experience tends to be very different. The website for Semester at Sea is www.semesteratsea.org
The itinerary for this voyage included: Barcelona, Spain; Monte Carlo, Monaco; Livorno (for Florence and Tuscany), Italy; Cadiz (for Seville and Andalucía), Spain; Casablanca, Morocco; Lisbon, Portugal; Le Havre (for Normandy and Paris), France; Antwerp, Belgium; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Leith (for Edinburgh), Scotland; Belfast, Northern Ireland; Dublin, Ireland; and disembarking in Dover, England.
These are just a sampling of images from this voyage. The complete collections can be seen by going to the pages for the respective port or location. I did not include photos of people on the voyage because I did not obtain model releases or permission to publish them. The images below can also be seen as a ten-minute slideshow by clicking the "slideshow" button above.
