The McCarthy Road goes from the Richardson Highway to the town of McCarthy in Wrangell St Elias National Park. It is an exciting and picturesque road. The first time I went there (while still using film, so those pictures are not on this site), the Kuskulana Bridge did not have guardrails. At the end of the road there was also a tram on a cable that one would have to pull the cable to get over to the other side of the river into town. These things have been 'modernized' now to make it much more accessible, but also took away a bit of the adventure of getting there.
