Alaskans all call the mountain Denali, meaning 'the great one', but Ohioans call it Mt McKinley after the president from their state. Cheap politics has kept the McKinley name intact, but the park name was changed to reflect local and more widespread sentiment. Today the park is an outstanding place to view wildlife and nature at its finest. Viewing the mountain may pose a larger challenge though - it took my sixth, and most recent, attempt to finally see the mountain itself in the park.
