This is one of the World's smallest countries and is totally surrounded by the Italian city of Rome. Visitors can really only visit St Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum. Photos are not allowed in the Sistine Chapel (my understanding it is because of an agreement with the company that restored the ceiling, so they could get extra revenue through the books and post cards sold), though lots of people take photos while there and the guards seem to do nothing to discourage that.
