Algeria is a very hard country to visit, and I was fortunate to get to visit it as part of a group on the Spirit of Oceanus cruise ship in 2010. The visit was extremely limited, we were transported everywhere by bus and a multiple police escort with sirens, and we were not allowed to explore on our own or interact with the locals. Photography was often restricted and many of these images were taken from a moving bus. I was very surprised by how green the countryside was.
